How to Write Great Blog Content - Every Single Time
Because, let’s face it...we would know
Some say writer’s block is a myth...others say it’s their ‘white whale’. Regardless of where you stand on the matter, coming up with some great blog ideas isn’t always easy.
If you ask us, the best advice we can give you when it comes to blog content creation is literally just to plan. Work out your key themes for the coming months and then build upon these ideas to form titles and briefs. This will ensure your content is varied, interesting, and 100% on brand.
Can somebody stop this record? I think it’s broken.
Okay, okay, so let’s talk inspo instead. If you’re feeling a little creatively drained there are plenty of ways to get the cogs turning when it comes to blogging.
Check the competition Of course, if you don’t have great ideas - steal ‘em (kidding, kidding). But in all seriousness, if you are a little stuck, check out what your competition is doing. What kinds of topics are they talking about, and which of their blogs are getting the most attention? There’s no rules that say you can’t learn from the successes (or mistakes) of others.
Think about your company as it is Do you have any great company updates you can be sharing? Are you experiencing a period of growth? You might even like to do some blogs focussing specifically on some of the roles in your company such as when we *ahem* focused on Brian for a week.
What’s cool right now? Everyone knows to some extent what’s news in their industry. Have Instgram released yet another shocking update? Write a blog on it. See what topics other businesses are chatting about and jump on the trends. A little bit of agility could do wonders for getting your blogs seen, and raise your brand awareness in the process.
What time of year is it? Hey, do you hear those incoming sleigh bells? Because you can bet your hooves that just about every blog in existence is going to be talking about Christmas the second December hits (ditto, New Years, ditto Easter, and so on). After all, who doesn’t love a bit of seasonal content? Have the above points given you a few things to think about? Fab. But if you’re still feeling apprehensive, just talk to your writer. A good content writer will be able to make almost any topic sound fun and interesting so have a little faith, and let them work their magic.
And if you’re looking to get in on a little of that ‘planning action’, make use of ContentCal’s custom content planning channels to map out your blogging ideas.
