How to manage your blog's planning and content creation using ContentCal

So, here’s exactly how you can manage your blog effectively, only using ContentCal…

1. Plan your content

The key to any good piece of long-form content is how well it was planned out. And any ContentCal user will know that we’ve already made it easy for you to jot down ideas, use our Web Clipper to save inspiration, and turn your drafts into well-curated social media posts - and now we’re bringing that approach to blogs and other types of long-form content too.

We’ve even added another new tool, Contributions, allowing you to ask your team to submit ideas and collaborate on content using forms.

Similarly to your social media posts, you’ll also have access to custom Planning Channels and Web Clipper to bring your ideas to life.

Need help finding some inspiration on what to post? Just take a look at our notable dates calendar with every handy event happening this year!

Here are some other ideas of blog posts you could work on:

  • How-to guides
  • Content around upcoming events (e.g. Christmas or New Year)
  • An introduction to your team
  • A listicle

It’s easiest to allocate a set amount of time and write down as many ideas as you can think of. Then, you can decide which ones are worth doing, based on factors such as SEO value, social relevance, and offering a unique point of view from your brand.

2. Save time using Articles to create your content

Create a new “Article” once you’re ready to start writing. You’ll be taken into full-screen mode ready to make the magic happen.

Remember to come up with a killer headline that will entice readers to click on your piece, and it’s time to get creative.

Articles has all of the capabilities of a regular word processor, so expect to be able to format, add imagery, change fonts and styles, and link out to external pages.

Articles is also integrated with Grammarly, so you can be sure that all of your spelling and grammar is corrected as you go.

You’ll also have the same approval workflow as you do with your social media calendar, so there’s no room for awkward errors. Even if you have a longer sign-off process, you can adjust your settings to match this.

3. Collaborate with your team on Articles

When creating a piece, you can easily set permission levels that allow other members of your team to either be able to read-only, comment or edit your content. That means you can collaborate easily, submit ideas, and still get the feedback you need to create amazing pieces.

Having these kinds of abilities that elevate communication are great particularly for larger teams, or if you’re a company that handles multiple brands. It also means you can get feedback from your clients without having to hand over control to them.

4. Seamlessly distribute your content using ContentCal

Once your content is live and ready for the world to see, it’s important to focus on how you’re going to distribute it.
